Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

HOW TO KNOW WHEN IT’S TIME FOR 24-HOUR CARE

If you are looking after a loved one, there may come a time to consider employing 24-hour care. It can be hard to know when the time is right, but if you are struggling to provide safe and effective care yourself, then there is no shame in getting help.

There are certain things to consider that can help you make your decision. We recommend asking yourself the following questions:

Is your loved one safe if they’re home alone?

Is there a possibility that your loved one may not be safe when someone isn’t around to care for them? Are you worried that your loved one may fall or otherwise hurt themselves? It may be time to seek support from a full-time Career. Similarly, if you are concerned that your loved one isn’t able to meet their own physical needs, such as eating and drinking, we can help.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by providing care?

CareGiver stress can be an important sign that it may be time to seek help from someone else. If you just need some short-term support or temporary relief, you may wish to consider our respite care services.

Does your loved one require more care than you are qualified to provide?

Most people aren’t trained to deal with the full extent of their loved one’s needs. If they require specialist care in response to a medical condition, then it’s likely time to consider help.

SAFETY FIRST

Every member of the Homeatpeace team has been through rigorous vetting procedures before they are able to work in the community, in addition all staff care identification cards which shows their name, photograph and signature with the office details located on the bottom.  For your complete peace of mind we provide an out of hours service which you may contact after hours as and when necessary.

We’re unable to arrange for an in-person meeting with the carer before they arrive. This is because the carers we work with come from all corners of the United Kingdom.

However, before you confirm your carer, you’ll receive their full profile to get a feel for the type of person they are. Once you’ve confirmed you’re happy with your carer, we’re able to help arrange a call between you and your new carer.

Typically, carers stay for three to four weeks at a time before taking a break, it all depends on the care you need, we will try to match you to carer that can support you for the time you need. During the period they’re away, we’ll arrange for a secondary carer to step in. This is usually for a period of between one day to one to two weeks.

Whether your loved one is being discharged from hospital, or your family circumstances have changed quickly, we’re able to respond quickly. Wherever you are in the country, we’re going to be able to put care in place within 48 hours of your call.

However, usually it takes a bit longer. Unless it’s urgent, arranging care isn’t a process you’ll want to rush. We’ll work with you to make sure we get it right.

Your home carer will need a spare room and will expect a similar standard of accommodation as if they were renting the room. Before their arrival, you should aim to prepare the spare room so it’s a comfortable space in which your live-in carer can retire to.

We offer training to all the carers we work with. However, as an introductory agency, we can’t enforce training. Instead, we only work with those who have at least one-year professional care experience. We also undertake a stringently vetted process and in-person assessment to ensure they’re suitable.

The equipment you require depends completely on your situation. Bear in mind, there is funding available for home adaptations – to make sure you can make it a suitable environment.

However, during a conversation with one of our care planning team, they’ll be able to recommend to point you in the right direction. Read our guide on mobility and independence here.

Yes, our shortest minimum period of coverage is one week. If you’d like to arrange temporary care, simply the hit the button in the top right-hand corner of the page, and enter your details. One of our team will call you back within 24 hours.

Homeatpeace Care Services is defined by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as an Introductory Agency, in line with the Health & Social Care Act 2008. This is a model that falls outside the scope of their regulations.

Our role is to help you find the carer that’s the right for you, but you’re more responsible for managing the carer on a day-to-day basis. A regulated company directly employs carers. The carers we work with are self-employed.

We take a considered and comprehensive approach to ensuring that your care service is exactly what is required. After every visit the carer will write the details of activities undertaken during the visit in the care record

Homeatpeace Care Services will tailor a detailed plan personally for your care which describes the care to be delivered to you. Some people are entitled to assistance with the cost of their care which can be gained from their local social services department and also from Government grants. Once your plan of care has been agreed we will send you a form to pay for your care by standing order or direct debit.

Once your needs have been established, we will work out a care plan for you, that your carer will use to make a plan of the things you need done on a daily or weekly base.  Our carers do not give injections nor do they change sterile dressings we do provide nursing staff for this so please contact the office should you require this service.  We are also unable to carry out tasks which may lead to injury for either you the client, or our staff.  All tasks will be agreed in advance.  All changes can be discussed with the office team.

At Homeatpeace Care Services, our Live-in Care Service is a great alternative to Residential Care.  Here are six things you should know, when you're considering your options:

Home care is just what it says – the care you need delivered in your own home in just the way you want it. Being in your own home means you can continue to live your life the way you want to and as flexible as you always have. No strict routines or timetables – just you enjoying your meals, outings or interests when you want to, all with the support of your own carer.

As and when ill-health or lack of independence hits, many feel their only care option is a residential care home. This is often met with resistance, upset, a loss of identity and in some cases, an advancement of age-related health problems. Staying at home removes these anxieties and in fact, can delay early onset dementia as well as speed up recovery after illnesses. With the right care and support, it is possible to stay at home. You can enjoy that cup of tea served in your favourite china, the log fire burning in the grate, the beloved pet snoozing at your side all with the care you need close at hand.

We Homeatpeace Care Services will care and support you with the same compassion and attention as your own family, but with the added benefit of our extensive training and expertise. We arrive with a smile, energy and a cheeriness to make you smile too. With one-t0-one care, we quickly understand your personality and are keen to keep your independence and interests going for as long as possible. You and your family can enjoy peace of mind – knowing you’re being supported by a team of trained professionals who are solely there to care for you, in your home.

There are all kinds of services to choose from with Homeatpeace Care Services, from full live-in care to simply some help with your shopping. You tell us what you need and we create a care package for you. We appreciate that your needs and wants may change with time and inclination. We’re always here to listen and to flex our services in order to respond to your needs as they change. We always respect you and the lifestyle you choose in the home you love.

Receiving care in your own home is an opportunity to continue to experience all that life has to offer. You really can have the best of both worlds with the freedom and sanctuary that your own environment affords and the flexibility of the right care when you need it. In your own home, you can continue to be yourself and maintain
hobbies you might have as well as creating new and enjoyable memories.

Home is where you’ve put down your roots and you enjoy your neighbours, your friends, your family and the local community. With home care, you stay firmly in that community with the support, love and friendship that’s so important and maintain that sense of belonging.
